My First Year at Shepherds College

By: David Ellenberger

God is teaching me how to become an independent person. I have learned so much about God's word. God has shown me how to know when to speak and when to listen. God is in control of my life and He stands me up when I stumble. If God tells me to witness to people, I will. If God tells me to sacrifice my life for what I believe in, I will. I know that I am going to heaven someday because the Bible tells me that if you believe in God, you will live with Him for all eternality some day. God has shown me how to be more responsible. I want to live on my own someday. God is using the staff at Shepherds College to help me reach my goals.

One of my favorite verses is Philippians 4:13 which says, “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” I believe God's word is true, and I trust that God will help me succeed in life. Being a responsible person will bring me one step closer to living on my own. I am learning all of the techniques that will draw me closer to live by myself. I cannot wait until that day.

My first year is almost over, and I cannot wait until next year. There will be a new freshman class. Second year students will have new classes, and will start training in one of the specialty fields. I am going to study Culinary Arts because I love to cook. I would like to practice some gourmet techniques so I can learn how to become a professional chef. I am excited to cook next year.

Christ is in my life now and I am going to follow Him all of my days. I am His disciple and God is my Heavenly father. God watches over me so I will not stumble. Maybe I could witness to some of the new students coming in next year. Some of them might not be Christians. It feels good to be here.

God has shown me so much in my life and I am going to keep it that way. When God is ready, He will send me out in the world to find a home all for my own. I am waiting for God to give me a sign of what I should do in my life. God is in control. I am ready to live a good healthy life that will glorify the Lord.
