SHEPHERDS COLLEGE: FAQ's
Who is eligible to attend Shepherds College?
Students must be at least 18 years of age and have obtained a high school diploma or equivalent. Students should also have a primary diagnosis of Intellectual Disability (MR). Because of the nature of the program students would most likely fall into the area of mildly disabled.
 
What is the cost to attend Shepherds College?
Currently the cost to attend Shepherds College is $28,700 per year. Tuition is $17,200 Residential Services is $8,620 and Room & Board is $2,880.
 
Is financial aid available?
Some limited scholarships are available. Also there will be an opportunity for work study. Unfortunately, until Shepherds College receives accreditation, financial aid will be limited. Shepherds College is striving to be accredited for the 2011-2012 school year.
 
What is the length of the program?
Shepherds College is a three year program. Year one is made up primarily of classroom instruction. Year two consists of a balanced mix of hands on training in the chosen area of study and class work. Year three is an internship in which the student is placed with a local employer in their area of study with a small amount of class work.
 
What are the areas of study?
Currently Shepherds College offers two areas of study, Horticulture and Culinary Arts.
 
Where will I stay?
Students will live in an assisted living apartment in the Clark Apartment Building located on the Shepherds Ministries campus.
 
Do I have to live on campus?
Racine, Milwaukee, Kenosha, Walworth, and Waukesha County residents may be able to live at home and commute. All other students will need to live on campus for at least the first year.
 
Will I have a roommate?
Yes, students are assigned a roommate.
 
What happens after graduation?
Shepherds College will assist the student in securing employment in an area consistent with their training and interests.  Employment cannot be guaranteed, however, staff will work with family and community networks to facilitate a smooth transition into the workforce.  Each Shepherds College graduate will be assigned a Life Coach who will provide support and assistance in the various facets of successful transition.
 
Will I receive a degree when I graduate?

Shepherds College is a non-degree awarding program. Graduates will recieve a certificate of completion.
